House Bill Requiring Inspection of Abortion Facilities Passes Health Committee Nashville, April 01, 2015 --- A proposal to require state licensure and inspection of abortion facilities in Tennessee has passed a key hurdle as members of the state House Health committee voted overwhelmingly Wednesday in support of legislation sponsored by state Representative Susan Lynn (R-Mount Juliet.)  "This proposal fulfills a promise to Tennessee voters that we would restore common sense protections for women and girls considering abortion," said Rep. Lynn.  "We have a duty and an obligation to ensure that health and safety standards are enforced consistently within facilities performing out-patient surgeries, including those performing abortions." Remembering A Pro-Life Pioneer

Tennessee Right to Life and National Right to Life Mourn the Death of Dr. John C. Willke FEBRUARY 24, 2015: The National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), the nation's oldest and largest pro-life organization, joins with pro-lifers across the country and around the world in mourning the death of former National Right to Life President Dr. John C. (Jack) Willke, an obstetrician who devoted his life to the right-to-life movement. Dr. Willke died at his home in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Friday. He was 89. "There is no way to quantify the contributions Jack Willke, along with his wife Barbara, made to the right-to-life movement," said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life."Jack's generous heart and wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed. The State of Abortion in the United States

National Right to Life releases new report examining the current status of abortion in the United States WASHINGTON – Today, the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), the federation of 50 state right-to-life affiliates and more than 3,000 local chapters, released its second annual report examining “The State of Abortion in America.” The report summarizes key legislative developments at the state and federal level, finds that the annual number of abortions continues to decline, and shows that a majority continue to oppose the vast majority of abortions allowed under the doctrine of Roe v. Wade. “While recent reports show a significant decrease in the annual number of abortions, tragically, nearly 3,000 unborn children are still killed every day in the United States,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “As we prepare to observe the 42nd anniversary of Roe v. Pro-Life Women Announce Bills to Restore Protective Policies

Tuesday, January 13, 2015 - Several female members of the state Legislature have announced legislation which would restore common-sense policies regarding the practice of abortion in Tennessee. During a Capitol Hill press conference held hours before the opening of the 109th General Assembly, state Senator Mae Beavers (Mount Juliet) joined Representatives Susan Lynn (Mount Juliet) and Debra Moody (Covington) to announce their intentions to promote passage of several policies including informed consent for women and girls considering abortion, a short waiting period and a requirement that abortion facilities be held to the same health and safety standards as other out-patient surgical facilities.
